History of The German Shepherd

The German Shepherd orgin happens to be given away in its name, Germany. Brought up in 1899, the breed was not recognized until 1908. They are herding dogs used for rounding up livestock and protecting them from threats. These dogs are also the most popular police breed and make excellent guard dogs.

• The German Shepherd is the most common ACK registered breed.
  
• This breed has been featured in many TV's shows and film's. Some films being Rin Tin Tin, Strongheart and Bolt.
• German Shepherd's are thought to be the breed responsible for most human bites. However, no evidence can truely support this statement.
